Privacy Policy

NGSMedia LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Faithero mobile application (the "App"), a Bible reading and faith companion app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully.

This policy covers the App on iPhone, iPad and Android. A part marked "iPhone and iPad" or "Android" is only about that version of the App; everything else is true for both.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimal information necessary to provide our services:

Account Information

When you create an account using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we receive:

• Email Address - Used for account identification and important communications
• Name - If Apple or Google provides it when you sign in, used for your profile
• User ID - A unique identifier for your account

Guest Account and Daily Quiz

If you have not signed in when you finish setting up the App, it creates a guest account for you on our server: a random user ID, with no email address or name. If you later sign in with Apple or Google, we link that guest account to your account and move its quiz games to it. When you finish a daily quiz, the App sends us the date, your score, your app language, and which of the quiz's listed answers you gave, as answer IDs (never anything you type). We keep your score with your user ID so you can see how you placed among that day's players; your answers only add to anonymous counts of how many players gave each one.

Usage Events

iPhone and iPad: To see how the App is used and fix what doesn't work, the App sends our own server short usage events: which screens and buttons you use, whether features such as the Bible Guide, "What does this mean?", listening, dictation, the daily quiz, or buying a plan worked and how long they took, that a daily step such as saying Amen or reading a chapter was done, and reports of crashes and freezes. Each event carries a random ID for your installation of the App, your user ID once you have an account, and basic device details (model, operating system and app version, and the App's language), and, once for each account, the identifier Affiliateo gives this installation. Usage events never include your conversations with the Bible Guide, your prayers or questions, what you dictate, the books, chapters, or verses you read, your notes or highlights, your name, your answers to the onboarding questions, or anything else you type or say, and nothing at all is sent about a conversation that touches on suicide, self-harm, or abuse. We use them only to understand and improve the App, keep them for 180 days, and delete them when you delete your account.

Purchase Information

iPhone and iPad: If you subscribe to premium features, Apple handles the payment through the App Store, and the App checks your plan with the App Store on your device, using:

Android: If you subscribe to premium features, Google handles the payment through Google Play, and the App checks your plan with Google Play on your phone, using:

• Purchase history and subscription status
• Transaction identifiers (we do not see your payment card details)

iPhone and iPad: When you buy a plan, the App attaches your user ID to the purchase. The App Store keeps it with your subscription and repeats it in its reports about it (see "Purchases Reported to Affiliateo"). Your plan belongs to your Apple Account: on another device signed in to it, Restore Purchases brings it back.

Android: When you buy a plan, the App attaches your user ID to the purchase. Google Play keeps it with your subscription and repeats it in its reports about it (see "Purchases Reported to Affiliateo"). Your plan belongs to your Google account: on another phone signed in to it, Restore Purchases brings it back.

Referral and Ad Attribution

iPhone and iPad: To credit the creators and campaigns that bring people to Faithero, the App includes the Affiliateo SDK. It sends Affiliateo your device's identifier for vendor (an identifier Apple gives our apps on your device, not the advertising identifier), basic device details (model, operating system and app version, screen size, time zone and language), your user ID, when you open the App, and which onboarding and paywall screens you view. Affiliateo also works out your approximate location (country, region and city) from your device's network (IP) address. Once per install, the SDK also sends Apple's Search Ads attribution token, which tells us whether an Apple Search Ads campaign led to the install. If your account has an email address, the App also gives Affiliateo a scrambled (hashed) form of it, which cannot be turned back into the address. Affiliateo uses it only to recognize you if we give you free access to the App, for example as one of our affiliates.

Android: The Android app includes the Affiliateo SDK for the same reason. It sends Affiliateo a device identifier made from the ID Android gives the App on your phone, your phone's advertising ID while ad personalization is on (and whether it is on), basic device details (maker and model, Android and app version, screen size, time zone and language), Google Play's install referrer (the link, if any, that led to the install), your user ID, which onboarding and paywall screens you view, and a note each time you open the App. If a referral brought the install, it also registers a random purchase ID with Affiliateo, so Google Play's purchase reports can be matched to that referral. Each plan you buy in the App also carries your user ID, which Google Play repeats in its reports about your subscription, so they can be matched to that referral too. If your account has an email address, the App also gives Affiliateo a scrambled (hashed) form of it, which cannot be turned back into the address. Affiliateo uses it only to recognize you if we give you free access to the App, for example as one of our affiliates. Affiliateo also works out your approximate location (country, region and city) from your phone's network (IP) address.

Purchases Reported to Affiliateo

iPhone and iPad: When you buy a plan on the App's paywall, the App tells Affiliateo about the purchase: the App Store's transaction ID, the plan, its price, and its currency, with your device's identifier for vendor and the App's bundle ID. The App Store also reports that payment to Affiliateo, and the ones after it (renewals, refunds and cancellations of your subscription), with the plan, its price and currency, your country, and your user ID. Affiliateo uses it only to credit the creator or campaign that brought you, if any, and does not pass it on to any ad network.

Android: When you buy a plan on the App's paywall, the App tells Affiliateo about the purchase: Google Play's order ID, the plan, its full price, and its currency, with the device identifier described above, your phone's advertising ID while ad personalization is on (and whether it is on), and the App's package name. Google Play also reports that payment to Affiliateo, and the ones after it (renewals, refunds and cancellations of your subscription), with the plan, its price and currency, your country, and your user ID. Affiliateo uses it only to credit the creator or campaign that brought you, if any, and does not pass it on to any ad network.

Ad Measurement with Meta, TikTok and Google

iPhone and iPad: The App includes Meta's and TikTok's software development kits (SDKs). They tell Meta and TikTok when the App is installed, each time you open it, and when you buy a plan in the App, with the plan, its price and currency, and the App Store's transaction ID. With these go basic device details (such as model, operating system and app version, language, time zone and screen size), your device's network (IP) address, and identifiers the SDKs keep for your installation of the App. TikTok's SDK also sends your device's identifier for vendor. The App never asks you to allow tracking, so neither SDK receives your device's advertising identifier. Installs that come from their ads can also be counted through Apple's SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you. Both SDKs may also send reports about how they run and about their own errors. This lets us see which of our ads lead to installs and purchases, and lets Meta and TikTok show our ads to people more likely to be interested. The App does not show ads. Meta and TikTok handle what they receive under their own privacy policies.

iPhone and iPad: The App also includes Google Analytics for Firebase, Google's software development kit, which is how Google Ads counts what our ads on Google bring. It tells Google when you first open the App after installing it, each time you use the App and for how long, when the App or your device's operating system is updated, and when you buy a plan in the App, with the plan, its price and currency, and the App Store's transaction ID. With these go basic device details (such as model, operating system and app version, language and screen size), your device's network (IP) address, from which Google works out your approximate location, and random identifiers Firebase keeps for your installation of the App. The App uses the version of the SDK that cannot read your device's advertising identifier, and sets it not to collect your device's identifier for vendor or which screens of the App you view. Installs that come from Google's ads can also be counted through Apple's SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you. Firebase may also send reports about how its SDK runs. This lets us see which of our Google ads lead to installs and purchases, and lets Google show our ads to people more likely to be interested. Google handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

Android: The App includes Meta's and TikTok's software development kits (SDKs). They tell Meta and TikTok when the App is installed, each time you open it, and when you buy a plan in the App, with the plan, its price and currency, and Google Play's order ID. You can delete your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your phone's Settings > Privacy > Ads (the path can differ between phones); Meta and TikTok then receive no advertising ID from the App. Both SDKs may also send reports about how they run and about their own errors. This lets us see which of our ads lead to installs and purchases, and lets Meta and TikTok show our ads to people more likely to be interested. The App does not show ads. Meta and TikTok handle what they receive under their own privacy policies.

Affiliate Program

If you choose to join our affiliate program, we share your account email address and name with Affiliateo to create and run your affiliate account. Affiliateo collects any payout, identity, or bank details directly, under its own privacy policy.

Your Activity Stays On Your Device

Faithero is designed with privacy at its core. What you read, write, and pray is stored on your device and is NOT uploaded to our servers:

• Reading Progress, Bookmarks, Highlights, Notes, and Streaks - Stored on your device and your iCloud (on Android, in your phone's own backup, if you turned it on)
• Faith Goals, Onboarding Answers, and Preferences - Stored on your device (and, on Android, in your phone's own backup, if you turned it on)
• AI Conversations and Prayers - The chat model runs on your device; your messages are processed locally and are never sent to us
• Android: AI Conversations and Prayers - On phones that offer it, the App uses Google's own on-device model, Gemini Nano, which Android keeps in its AICore system service and which also runs entirely on your phone
• App Lock Settings - The apps you pick, the lock's settings, and whether your apps are locked stay on your device

iPhone and iPad: What leaves your device about how you use the App is only its usage events (see "Usage Events"): which screens and buttons you use, whether features worked and how long they took, and crash reports. They say, for example, that a chapter was marked read or that the Bible Guide answered, never which chapter or what was asked or answered.

We have no access to, and cannot retrieve, your reading history, notes, prayers, or AI conversations. You maintain complete control over this information.

When you choose Report on an AI answer or explanation, the App sends us that answer with the question it answered (or the verse it explains), your app language and app version, so we can check it.

Android: Your Phone's Own Backup

If you turn on your phone's backup (Android's backup to your Google account), Android keeps a copy of your settings, reading progress, bookmarks, notes, and streaks there, end-to-end encrypted with your phone's screen lock. When you set up a new phone from your old one, your conversations and your profile picture move to it as well. Google keeps that copy under its own privacy policy, and we have no access to it. The downloaded Bibles, the on-device AI model, and your sign-in are never part of it.

Content Downloads

To work offline, Faithero downloads Bible translations and the on-device AI model from our content delivery network to your device. This is a one-way download of content to your device and does not send your personal data or activity to us. The App's usage events may say whether the AI model's download started, finished, or failed, and how long it took.

Android: On phones that offer Google's on-device model, Android downloads and updates that model itself, not the App.

Microphone & Speech Recognition

iPhone and iPad: If you speak instead of typing, Faithero uses your device's microphone and Apple's speech recognition to write out your words. Apple may process what you say on its servers to do this, under Apple's privacy policy. Faithero never records or keeps the audio and never sends it to us; only the written words appear in the App.

App Lock

App Lock is optional. If you turn it on, the apps you pick stay locked each day until you finish the steps you chose in the App.

iPhone and iPad: App Lock uses Apple's Screen Time. You pick apps, categories, or websites in Apple's own list, and Screen Time keeps track of them for the App. Your picks, the lock's settings, and whether your apps are locked or open stay on your device and are never sent to us. The App's usage events never say whether you use App Lock or which apps you pick.

Android: App Lock uses Android's Accessibility service, which you turn on yourself in your phone's settings after the App explains what it is for. The App uses it only to learn which app comes to the front, so it can show the lock screen over an app you picked. It never reads what is on your screen or what you type, and it never taps or types for you. To let you pick, the App shows the apps installed on your phone; that list never leaves your phone. Your picks, the lock's settings, and whether your apps are locked or open stay on your phone: they are not part of your phone's own backup, and they are never sent to us. When you finish a daily step, such as saying Amen, praying, reading a chapter, or playing the daily quiz, the App sends a usage event (see "Usage Events"), whether or not App Lock is on. The App's usage events never say whether you use App Lock or which apps you pick, and the lock screen sends none.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Cloudflare - Secure authentication, account management, and storing usage events
• Google - Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with your Google account
• Android: Google - On phones that offer it, Gemini Nano through Android's AICore, and Google's ML Kit (part of Google Play services), which the App uses to reach that model. The model runs on your phone; ML Kit may send Google usage and diagnostic information about the feature (for example that it was used and how it performed), not your messages or the answers
• Affiliateo - Referral attribution, purchase reports that credit referrals, and our optional affiliate program
• Meta - Ad measurement through Meta's software development kit (see "Ad Measurement with Meta, TikTok and Google")
• TikTok - Ad measurement through TikTok's software development kit (see "Ad Measurement with Meta, TikTok and Google")
• iPhone and iPad: Google - Google Analytics for Firebase, ad measurement (see "Ad Measurement with Meta, TikTok and Google")
• Apple App Store and Google Play - App distribution and payment processing
• Android: Google - Android's backup, if you turn it on (see "Your Phone's Own Backup")

These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. These providers do NOT have access to your reading history, notes, prayers, or AI conversations (on Android, your phone's own backup, if you turn it on, is end-to-end encrypted with your screen lock).

How We Use Your Information

The limited information we collect is used for:

• Creating and managing your account
• Processing subscriptions and purchases
• Crediting referrals and ad campaigns that bring new users
• Running the optional affiliate program
• Understanding how the App is used and fixing crashes and features that don't work
• Sending important service-related communications
• Responding to your support requests

We do NOT sell or rent your personal information, and we do NOT share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Account information is retained while your account remains active. Usage events are kept for 180 days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data, usage events included, at any time through the App or by contacting us. Your reading history, notes, prayers, and conversations live only on your device (and your iCloud on iPhone and iPad, or your phone's own backup on Android, if turned on) and can be deleted directly in the App or by uninstalling it.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• Secure authentication through trusted OAuth providers (Apple, Google)
• Encrypted data transmission using industry-standard protocols
• Local storage keeps your reading, notes, and conversations under your control

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access - Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction - Request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Deletion - Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Portability - Request a copy of your data in a portable format

California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have additional rights including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do NOT sell personal information.

International Users

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws. Our legal basis for processing is contract performance (to provide the App) and our legitimate interests (to operate and improve our services). You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

Faithero is intended for a general audience. Users under 18 should have parental or guardian consent to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy within the App and update the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
